'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and the defender immediately hammered in the deflection before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary comeback given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
